Realising the benefits of pilates to restore fitness, particularly after injury or illness, I decided to train in essential and intermediate Stott Pilates mat work in 2012. Setting up as a pilates instructor has allowed me to combine my love of this form of exercise with over 20 years of teaching in a local secondary school and experience of running a small business prior to that. I have a real appetite for developing knowledge of bio mechanics and have undertaken further training in rehabilitation pilates – regularly attending workshops focusing on anatomy and pilates modifications using props.
Working with people trying to regain fitness after injuries, illness and disability is immensely rewarding and I am committed to clients’ well being at the same time ensuring they are enjoying the class! It is often said of the aproximately 43 facial muscles – it takes less to smile than to frown and we try to ensure the smiling muscles get a good work out!
